The Mission Support Team is composed of behind-the-scenes missionaries who serve in GFA World’s administrative offices. Although they serve in offices far from the physical mission field, their role is vital to the ministry.

For nearly 40 years, behind-the-scenes missionaries have functioned as a crucial link between the mission field and the Western Church. By communicating with GFA supporters in their country and raising resources for the field, the Mission Support Team provides the field with the critical prayer and financial support needed for ministry.

In much the same way that the Mission Support Team stands behind frontline workers on the field, you can stand with behind-the-scenes missionaries and enable them to continue in their role.

GFA’s Child Sponsorship Program offers hope through long-term community development programs that empower children and their communities to improve their lives in lasting, transformational ways. We’ve found the most effective way to help a child is to strengthen the child’s entire community, and the work we do is tailored to the specific needs within a child’s respective community. This may mean improving access to resources like clean water, better nutrition, basic healthcare, education and economic opportunities.

Women missionaries courageously serve in harsh areas to effectively bring hope to some of the most downtrodden people in areas we serve. They personally relate to the struggles of the women they meet and can minister to women and children unhindered by the cultural boundaries that male missionaries encounter. Women missionaries uplift communities by providing literacy training, prayer, counseling, discipleship for women in the local church, and news of hope for all who hunger for true love.

By sponsoring a woman missionary, you’ll enable them to minister to those forgotten by much of society. Uplifting the lives of women is one of the most significant ways to transform families and communities.

Vocational training courses train people for occupations such as tailoring or candle making. The classes help people get better jobs so they can break out of the cycle of poverty and provide better lives for their families.

Most families in the impoverished areas in which GFA serves have little or no insulation or heating in their homes. Those who sleep on the streets are even more exposed to the cold. Blankets provide comfort and protection and serve as tangible expressions of Christ’s love.

Jesus Wells provide fresh water year-round, protecting communities from waterborne illnesses and sparing women and children from spending hours fetching water. Obtaining clean water is also vital for practicing safe hygiene and for supporting healthy immune systems, both of which prevent the spread of diseases.

Pastors serving near Jesus Wells are able to share about the Living Water mentioned on the well’s plaque. Providing safe water—either by drilling a new well or maintaining existing wells—is a practical way to show communities how much God and His children care for all people!

$1,400 provides a well that produces clean water for an entire community, saving people from waterborne diseases for years. $30 can help a family of 6 people, $300 can help 10 families, and $1,400 can help an entire village.

Many impoverished women lack education and this limits their job opportunities. If a woman has lost her husband, or if he doesn’t earn enough, she may be powerless to provide for herself and her children. A sewing machine can allow her to start a productive business and meet her family’s needs.

Many people in the areas we serve do not have clean water and as a result battle waterborne illnesses—or even succumb to death. More than a billion people worldwide have no choice but to go to the bathroom out in the open, which poses many risks, especially for women and girls who venture into open fields under the cover of darkness. Your gift toward medical ministry can help provide free medical care and health education for people who are suffering and dying from treatable ailments. GFA missionaries organize medical camps in impoverished villages and invite teams of nurses, doctors and other health care professionals to provide free medical care. One medical camp may serve 200 to 1,000 people. Helping provide medical care for a family of five costs as little as $5.

Through medical ministry, families that lack access to medication or have never been taught basic hygiene can receive life-saving treatment and health education, all in the name of the Great Physician: Jesus Christ.

When you give to Compassion Services, you help meet the needs of people in desperate situations. With your gift, GFA missionaries can minister in slums and leprosy colonies, bring medical care to remote communities and provide practical, hope-filled relief supplies after a disaster, all revealing God’s compassion and care to burdened and broken individuals.

In many areas we serve, widows are an invisible part of society. They are commonly ignored, rejected and even cursed in some regions, believed to be the cause of their husbands’ deaths. Their own upbringing often leads them to believe those same things about themselves. Even women who have been abandoned by their husbands face the same sudden crisis as that of widows.

Also, millions of children must fend for themselves either as orphans, runaways or sons and daughters abandoned by their parents. Alone and unprotected, widows and abandoned children face immense practical and emotional hardships. But the Body of Christ can offer support and hope. When you give to help Widows and Abandoned Children, you can provide things like food, shelter, income-generating gifts, dignity and God’s compassion to women and children in need.

When women learn to read, they can avoid harmful labor contracts, understand warning labels and avoid being cheated at the marketplace. GFA World supports literacy classes that teach women how to read and write. After they graduate from these literacy classes, they're are also able to read God’s Word and can grow in their relationship with Him. Cows and the milk they produce help families grow stronger, healthier and more financially secure. A cow’s milk can be consumed, adding much-needed nutrients to the family’s diet, or sold, adding to the family’s income. The cow’s manure serves as a rich fertilizer for farmers, resulting in a more profitable harvest. As cows multiply, so does the financial benefit and the family’s hope for the future.

Fledgling congregations often lack a permanent structure to use for worship services, which exposes them to a host of problems. Their meetings—and ministries—are also hindered simply because they do not have space to gather as a church family. Your gift helps us to build and repair buildings. Even a gift of $80 can help provide decades of safer worship; with others sharing the cost, a church can be built!

A place of worship:

Many believers in areas we serve are first-generation believers who grew up knowing nothing of God’s ways, and they’re hungry for His Word. Your donation helps give people a copy of God’s Word, enabling them to grow in their knowledge of God and walk more closely with Him.

For many people in remote areas, a piece of Gospel literature is the first step in their journey of knowing Jesus. Oftentimes, Gospel literature will be read aloud to others who are illiterate or passed on to someone else who will read it and pass it on to yet another person.
